Michelle is going into her third year of teaching at New Visions Charter High School for Advanced Math and Science II in the Bronx. Michelle decided to become a teacher after volunteering in an afterschool program where she taught environmental science for elementary school students in NYC. She then went on to earn an M.A. in Science Education at Hunter College. For two years, Michelle has been a member of the New Visions teacher advisory board where she develops the Earth Science curriculum. She hopes this work will help other teachers within NYC and across the country implement science curriculum that is engaging and inquiry based. Michelle is excited to be part of the Sci-Ed Innovators Fellowship and is looking forward to collaborating with other teachers.
