Lucy never used to think that teaching high school science would be her future. She always had a passion for science and outdoors but had no desire to teach. After graduating from college with a Physics degree she did an intensive 6 week program to become certified in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). She then took her love of travel and moved to Colima, Mexico. She applied for a job teaching English at a high school there and was offered the job and asked to not only teach English but to also use her undergraduate degree and teach math, and physics classes. She agreed hesitantly.
Lucy then spent 4 years living in Mexico teaching high school physics (in English and in Spanish), freshman math, English, and adult English classes. There she developed a love for teaching both science and English. She then decided to go back to school, so she moved to NYC to get a masters in science education. She got a job teaching at an international high school for immigrants in NYC. Her students are all new to the country and the English language. She is now in her 2nd year at her school and her 6th year teaching.
