Lea came to NYC as an international teacher in 2004. Prior to teaching in NYC, she taught for a few years in the Philippines. She graduated from Sacred Heart College, Lucena City, Philippines with a degree of Secondary Education major in General Science. She completed the academic requirements for Master of Arts in Education at Philippine Normal University. In 2009, she earned her Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology from Touro College. As a teacher, Lea is very reflective about her teaching practices and always finds ways to improve them. Through the Sci-Ed Innovators Fellowship, she hopes to gain more insights on how to effectively use the different components of Democratic Pedagogy to empower students.
