School: International HS for Health Sciences
After graduating with a degree in cellular and molecular biology from the University of Michigan in 2005, Jenny realized that she wanted to return to New York City to become a teacher as a way to give back to the community that has supported her throughout her formative years as a immigrant. She completed her Masters in Science Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. She was awarded the Petrie Fellowship for her commitment to quality science education for English Language Learners. She later joined the staff at the International High School at Prospect Heights in 2006 where she served as the team leader and science department chair. In 2013, she became the founding science teacher at the International High School for Health Sciences. There, in addition to teaching Biology, she has served as the Chapter Leader, science club advisor, and new teacher mentor. Beyond the classroom, Jenny has worked as Math for America Master Teacher, International Network for Public Schools Graduation Portfolio panelist, and Howard Hughes Medical Institute Teacher Fellow. She joined the Sci-Ed program first as a Fellow in 2012, and then later as a Master Fellow. Currently, she is a science coach at the International High School for Health Sciences and the logistics coordinator for the Sci-Ed program.
