Denique's love and passion for teaching was developed growing up around her aunt in Trinidad, W.I. Following high school she began her journey as an educator, working as a 3rd grade teacher in a private school south of Trinidad. In 2008, she migrated to New York. Denique was dubious of her capabilities for becoming an effective NYC teacher and decided to enter the world of business. Within her first year she grew more excited about the business field and began her undergrad degree in Bachelors of Science and Business Administration followed by commencement of Masters of Business Administration and Project Management. She quickly climbed the corporate ladder. However, as time progressed, she felt a void. She felt as if she was not fulfilling her purpose as an individual to society. She missed the feeling of accomplishments and satisfaction she experienced as an educator. Soon after, she enrolled in the NYC Teaching Fellows began her Masters of Special Education and General Education while finally completing her MBA in project management. Her mission was being fulfilled as she was teaching once again. Denique continues to mold the minds of young individuals. She never ceases to enhance her craft, so that she can become an effective NYC teacher. Hence, she commenced her journey as a first year Sci-Ed Fellow, in hopes of igniting the fire in the lives of future STEM leaders.
