David joined the first cohort of Sci-Ed Innovators while he was teaching 9th grade science and designing innovative professional development initiatives at New Design High School. Alarmed when he realized his students’ feelings either supported or got in the way of their learning, David began to train at the Center for Group Studies in order to learn to meet his students’ developmental needs and channel their feelings towards classroom goals. David is the Instructional Specialist for Social Emotional Learning at New Visions Charter Schools where he works to help school teams develop effective SEL programs. David presents regularly at national education and psychotherapy conferences and was recently invited to present in Saint Petersburg, Russia. In addition to a masters degree in elementary education from Pace University, David earned a NASA-funded graduate teaching certificate in STEM education through Teachers College, and is currently a psychoanalyst in training at the Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies in New York City.
