Damon is excited to begin his 6th year of teaching at the Urban Assembly Institute of Math and Science for Young Women. He fills the roles of Science Team leader and UFT Chapter Leader. Damon came to teaching through the NYC Teaching Fellows Program, cohort 21, and completed a Masters Degree in Education with a concentration in Biology at Brooklyn College. He has completed a 2 year fellowship at the highly selective Hollyhock Fellowship at Stanford University and recently returned there as an Alumni Fellow assistant. Damon is thrilled to be accepted into the current Sci-Ed Fellows cohort and eager to delve into the practice of Democratic Science Teaching. He is especially interested in issues of equity in education and empowering student autonomy and voice within the classroom.
